What you need to know

  • NDS has released a Good Practice Guide on the use of NDIS Employment Supports.
  • It includes a description of the elements of the Customised Employment service model and how employment support providers can positively engage with mainstream employers.
  • It also identifies features of the different types of NDIS employment supports and their pricing and claiming arrangements.
  • An attachment includes additional resources and information for service providers and employers.

NDS has produced a Good Practice Guide on the use of NDIS Employment Supports for NDS members who provide supports to employees and jobseekers with disability. It is the third in a series of good practice guides for members, following guides to Classifying Employees under the SES Award and the use of the Supported Wage System under the SES Award.

The guide identifies principles of good practice in the provision of employment supports for NDIS participants, including the elements of the Customised Employment service model and how employment support providers can positively engage with mainstream employers. It also has detailed information on the different types of NDIS employment supports and their pricing and claiming arrangements.

An attachment to the Guide includes additional resources and information for providers on the Customised Employment model, current disability employment related trials, NDIS employment resources and resources on working with employers.

The guide was prepared with the valuable input of the NDIA’s Market Innovation and Employment Branch and NDS members. NDS also acknowledges the assistance of the Department of Social Services.
The guide will be current until 30 June 2024, after which an updated version will be distributed, including any relevant changes to NDIS employment support provisions and any additional resources and information.
