Let's Talk Disability Workshop

Speech bubble reads: Let's Talk disability beside a photo of five people standing and sitting in a wheelchair
Location: Tasmania (online)
Date: 3/09/2024

Usually offered as in-house training, this live, online disability awareness session will help break down barriers and dispel myths about disability.

For many, interacting with people with disability can feel challenging. You want to do the right thing, but if you're not sure what the right thing is, you're sometimes left feeling awkward. With one in five Australians living with some kind of disability, not all of which are visible, it can happen more often than you’d think.

Let’s Talk Disability is a fun, interactive workshop that lifts the lid on that awkwardness. The workshop is led by people with disability whose honest, no-nonsense approach will have you laughing while learning.

The workshop is an enjoyable and engaging session, not a lecture. It’s a chance to hear about disability from people with disability.

The 90 minute live workshop covers:

  • Myths and misconceptions
  • Disability etiquette
  • Principles of access, respect and advocacy
  • Tips to foster inclusion and good practice.
  • Q and A session with your team of presenters in an honest ‘ask anything’ manner

Who should attend?

We recommend those that are new to the disability sector, as well as anyone who interacts with people with disability and is wishing to build their confidence.
