NDS WA 2018-19 Pre-Budget Submission

PBS banner

The NDS WA PBS is the policy centrepiece for State level disability advocacy and is instrumental in identifying areas of critical need and the investment required to continue to deliver a comprehensive and holistic service system for people with disability in WA.

NDS officially launched and presented the WA 2018-19 Pre-Budget Submission (PBS) to Mr Reece Whitby MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and Minister for Disability Services, on Tuesday 14 November.

This year's PBS identifies four areas that require attention by the State Government. They are to:

  • Deliver a sustainable NDIS;
  • Plan for the future NDIS market;
  • Strengthen the Government’s NDIS market stewardship; and
  • Drive better outcomes under the National Disability Strategy.

To achieve these outcomes, the PBS calls for the Government to fund the WA Disability Services Industry Plan to assist with NDIS transition and develop an overarching State Disability Strategy, a disability roadmap to direct and support the work of the State Government and sector.

This will ensure the NDIS works in partnership with other state-controlled services to deliver good policy outcomes in the key areas of the National Disability Strategy, so that people with disability continue to receive quality support and services regardless of their eligibility for the NDIS.

NDS acknowledges the important participation by our members in informing and shaping the priorities and recommendations contained in this year’s PBS. In particular thank you to the NDS WA State Committee and six Sub-Committees who have generously tested, reflected and refined the priorities and recommendations.

This year’s PBS is presented in two formats, the full PBS and a highlights publication.
