Behind pricing and workforce, quality and safeguarding is the key topic that keeps most of our members up at night. The NDIS Review’s Terms of Reference promised to look at the Quality and Safeguarding Framework and, over May and June, the Review sought views on two key areas, the framework itself and participant safeguarding.  

In many consultations with our members, we have heard loud and clear that the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework is no longer fit for purpose. Developed in 2016 and released in 2017, the Framework envisioned a very different market to the one in which providers operate today. Participant numbers are higher than expected and the number of registered providers and the types of supports they provide is also vastly different than at the time of the design of Framework. A reset is required.
