The Queensland Government has launched the Domestic and Family Violence Help Seeking Campaign 2022-23 to raise awareness of all forms of domestic and family violence. A key message is that domestic violence is not just physical abuse but a pattern of behaviours to maintain power and control over someone. The campaign also promotes Queensland support services and help lines. 

The advertising campaign targets adult and young Queenslanders directly affected by domestic and family violence, but also wants to mobilise close influencers, including family and friends. 

The campaign runs to the end of February 2023 with digital advertising on catch-up TV, convenience advertising, and social media and Google search advertising.   

Everyone has a responsibility to act against domestic and family violence in Queensland.  

You can help by: 

• visiting the campaign website: www.qld.gov.au/knowdfv 
• publishing an article on your workplace intranet 
• including an article in a workplace e-newsletter 
• sharing a post on Facebook or LinkedIn 
• downloading a poster to display in the workplace or community group  
• sharing the campaign video with stakeholders or the wider organisation. 

Domestic violence training resources 

NDS recently published training resources for the disability workforce in responding to cases of domestic or family violence. Developed in partnership with the Queensland Office of Women and Violence Prevention, the course modules cover:    

• Why this violence occurs and increased risk factors for women with disability 
• What this type of violence looks like and how it can look different for women with disability 
• What to do if women with disability are experiencing domestic and family violence 
• Who can support women with disability to obtain information and access supports and services? 
• How can organisations respond effectively?
