What is the funding available for?

NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) can now access $50 per hour for staff wages to cover attendance in sector-relevant accredited Vocational Education Training (VET). This initiative aims to support the quality of care for NDIS participants through the ongoing professional development of front-line direct care workers and supervisors delivering NDIS services.

Key Details:

  • Funding Amount: A flat rate of $50 per hour to cover staff wages for attending eligible training.
  • Application limit: Each application is capped at $20,000, which equates to 400 hours of training.
  • Additional Applications: Additional applications may be submitted once the previous application has been invoiced and paid.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible Staff: Front-line direct care workers and supervisors providing NDIS support.
  • Eligible Training: Includes accredited VET, provided at no cost to the worker and is aligned with the “Fee-Free” and “Lower Fees, Local Skills” initiatives offered by the WA Government.
  • Training Providers: Training must be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 

Duration of the funding

The funding is available for training that is completed by 16 June 2025. NDS must be invoiced and provided supporting evidence of training completed no later than 16 June 2025.

How to apply and receive funding

Step 1NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) may contact the NDS Project Officer at submit enquiry/feedback to discuss interest and eligibility. 

Step 2:  NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) to complete the application form and lodge with submit enquiry/feedback

Step 3:  NDS will assess and provide outcome of application within ten business days.

Step 4:  Training is delivered by nominated RTO.

Step 5:  Within six weeks of training completed, NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) provide NDS with an invoice and supporting evidence to claim their pre-allocated funding.

Step 6:  NDS will review invoice and supporting evidence, checking that the:

  • Applying organisation is NDIS registered at time of invoicing.
  • Invoice matches the application and claim does not exceed approved limit.
  • Training is completed by 16 June 2025.

Step 7:  Funding to be paid within ten business days of invoice and supporting evidence being received by NDS from the NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations).

How will applications be assessed?

NDS will consider the applications in the order in which they are received.

NDS will provide written advice to NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) of the outcome of their application within 10 business days of lodgment.  Funds will be committed based on that approval.  

NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) must advise NDS as soon as practicable if the proposed training program is amended, in order that NDS can promptly reallocate funds if required.

NDIS Registered Providers (applying organisations) who are unsuccessful will receive feedback and may have the opportunity to reapply if funds are still available. 

What are the subsidy payment terms?

Within six weeks of completion of training and assessment NDIS Registered Provider (applying organisations) submits the following two documents: 

  1. An invoice to claim applied funds to be sent to NDS at submit enquiry/feedback 

  2. Using the provided NDS template, a statutory declaration signed by either the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Finance Officer, confirming the numbers of workers who completed training as per the approved application submitted to NDS.
