On Thursday 20 June, the NSW Parliament passed the Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Bill 2024. This legislation establishes a portable long service leave scheme for community services workers in NSW, similar to what is already in the ACT, Victoria and Queensland. 

NDS has heard strong concerns from members about setting up such a scheme in NSW. In our submission on the Bill, NDS pointed out the administrative and financial impact this scheme may have on disability service providers. We also argued that, against the backdrop of broader reforms in the sector, it is badly timed.
