The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has launched an Own Motion Inquiry into Platform Providers Operating in the NDIS Market. A platform provider is a business that provides an online service to connect workers with NDIS participants. They represent a significant and growing presence in the NDIS market. There are registered and unregistered platform providers and there are concerns about the variation in their quality and safeguards.

The NDIS Commissioner has heard that platform providers can offer people with disability flexibility, responsiveness, and increased control and connection with support workers. However, feedback given to the Commissioner also highlights uncertainty about who is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of services.
