What you need to know

  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for people with disability, NDS has released its Disability Inclusion and Access Plan (DIAP) for 2024–28.
  • The plan focuses on seven crucial areas, with specific goals and performance indicators to track progress.
  • The plan is closely aligned with other organisational strategies to ensure that disability, access and inclusion becomes second nature in every facet of our operation.
  • We hope our DIAP supports our members to promote inclusion and accessibility within their own spheres of influence.

At its annual Disability at Work Conference in Sydney today, NDS launched its Disability Inclusion and Action Plan (DIAP) for 2024–28. It outlines our actions and strategies for the next four years to eliminate discrimination and improve access, inclusion and participation for people with disability in our organisation and services.

Since our inaugural Disability Action Plan in 2010 and its update in 2014, NDS has been committed to fostering inclusivity and accessibility. The new plan has seven priority areas for 2024–28, with a new priority that reflects our leadership role in the sector. We have assessed our achievements since the previous plan and established performance indicators for the next four years.

Priority areas

  1. Recruitment and retention
  2. Learning and development
  3. Accessible infrastructure
  4. Communication
  5. Products and services
  6. Governance and accountability
  7. Sector leadership.

We think about disability, access and inclusion in every aspect of our operations. The DIAP is closely linked to all our organisational strategies and plans, especially the NDS Strategy — Towards 2025.

It underscores our commitment to uphold the fundamental rights of people with disability and our vision for an inclusive Australia.

As a leader in the sector, we support all our members to promote inclusion and accessibility within their own spheres of influence. Through our commitment, we aim to foster a collective effort towards meaningful change and progress in disability inclusion and accessibility.
