The National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission is conducting an Own Motion Inquiry into Platform Providers Operating in the NDIS Market.

Platform providers are online services connecting workers with NDIS participants and represent a significant and growing proportion of the NDIS market. There are registered and unregistered platform providers, with variation in how quality and safeguards are approached in delivering supports.  In our submission we make nine recommendations to the commission, highlighting issues around workforce, quality and safeguards regulations and data collection.  Throughout our submission, NDS did not advocate for a single model of service delivery for platform providers within the NDIS. However, considering the diverse needs of people with disability, we argued for a coordinated approach with practical strategies that meet the increasing demands for a skilled, competent and engaged disability workforce.
