New directions issued by the Victorian Chief Health Officer effective midnight 7 April

9/04/2020

The three new directions, which all came into force at midnight on 7 April 2020, are:

Restricted activity directions (No 2)
These directions place restrictions on businesses and other organisations, and limit recreational, cultural and entertainment activities.

Stay at home directions (No 3)
These directions outline the limitations on leaving home for all Victorians, and provide clarification of previous directions. The Stay at home directions (No 3) replace the Stay at home directions (No 2). This document provides clear directions about the limited reasons someone can leave their primary residence and the restrictions on visitors to a residence. The Care Facilities direction provides specific guidance for disability residential settings.

Care facilities directions
These directions replace the Aged Care facilities directions which restricted entry to all aged care facilities. It extends these restrictions to care facilities, including alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities, disability residential care and homelessness residential facilities.

The only people able to enter a care facility are residents, workers specific to that facility, and visitors that meet specific conditions. The most likely reason for a visitor be allowed entry is to provide “care and support” which is limited to one visit each day of no longer than two hours.

The DHHS COVID-19 Plan for the Disability Sector  is being updated to reflect the new directions.
