The NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) commenced in NSW on 1 February. Following on from previous information, the NSW NDIS Worker Check Unit has released an FAQ that provides answers to some of the common questions.
NDIS Worker Check FAQ [Word]
NDIS registered providers in NSW should also ensure they check the NDIS Commission website for additional information relating to the:
- the NDIS Worker Screening Rules
- the records that they need to keep related to worker screening
- the requirements for employing a worker whilst they are awaiting a worker screening check
- the requirements for contractors.
It is important to note that providers must verify any workers linked to their organisation via the NDIS National Worker Screening Database. Registered providers should have access to this via the NDIS Commission Portal.
For providers of services in addition to NDIS supports, who are trying to navigate the screening requirements across their organisation, it may be helpful to identify the various screening requirements for each area or service sectors. As an example if a provider is delivering aged care services, child related services and is an NDIS registered provider, a provider would identify the screening requirements for each of these sectors. A worker will need to meet the screening requirements of each sector.
NDS will be hosting a webinar with the NSW Worker Screening Unit in early March. More information and registration details will be available shortly.
