In August 2020, the Director General of the Department of Communities, at the request of the Minister for Disability Services, convened a meeting made up of key representatives from the disability sector, state and federal government agencies. The COVID-19 Disability Taskforce, which is Co-Chaired by the Department and NDS State Manager WA, Julie Waylen met to discuss planning for a potential outbreak or surge of COVID-19 cases in people with disability, their families and/or support workers in WA and what can be learned from previous outbreaks in Australia.

The Disability Sector - Preparedness Guide for COVID-19 was developed for the disability sector in WA and is now available.

The guide will be regularly updated and is available from the Department of Communities Disability Services COVID-19 website.
