This workshop program is designed for those new to the quality officer and quality manager role, or appointed to the role recently, helping you quickly get up to speed in your role. It is also designed to support those with previous experience as a quality practitioner in other sectors get up to speed with disability sector requirements.

It helps address the following NDIS Workforce Capabilities, to the extent that they are relevant to your role: 

  • Establish and embed NDIS values in organisational culture and practice
  • Build consistent, good practice
  • Establish systems to support health and manage risk
  • Establish a learning culture to support workforce capability

Workshop content includes:

1. Appreciate the vital role you play
2. Identify the needs of key stakeholders
3. Understand rights, and responsibilities
4. Balance purpose and systems: creating the conditions for people to do well
5. Understand the NDIS quality and safeguarding system, and other relevant quality frameworks
6. Maximise the benefit of each component of your quality management system
7. Understand key risks in your organisation
8. Use key processes to help improve quality and safeguarding
9. Build your knowledge across time
10. Know how to work productively with regulators and external quality auditors, and
11. Examine how IT systems can assist in quality and safeguarding

The program consists of: 

  • Pre-reading 
  • A total of eight hours training, over two (2) days

This workshop is in partnership with Purpose at Work, and facilitated by Alan Hough and Alex Carbonetti. Alan Hough, PhD, is a consultant in practice governance and co-editor of Disability practice: Safeguarding quality service delivery. Alex Carbonetti is a consultant in quality and safeguarding and is an NDIS auditor.
