NDS conducts Board and Senior Leader sessions focussing on a broad range of topics relevant to Boards and Senior Leaders. This includes sessions on strengthening Governance, Strategic Planning, and Sustainability.

Through these sessions, NDS aims to have experts share insights, and raise issues and solutions to assist providers to improve their performance.

Next session: Health Governance for Boards and Senior Leaders

The NDS Board and Senior Leader session for July will focus on health governance, with guest speaker Dr Alan Hough and a disability service provider. The session will explore services obligations regarding health, using examples to highlight good and poor practice, and how executive and board can ensure line of sight for governance on health outcomes. Participants will leave with practice insights as well as examples of health indicators and measures they can consider for board and risk committees.

This session is timely considering issues raised in the Disability Royal Commission regarding the poor health status of people with disability, the obligations providers have under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s practice standards and the recent investigations into poor practices in the sector. Services have responsibilities to understand risks – at both individual and organisational level and manage these risks to ensure high quality services delivered are safe and uphold people human rights.

Who Should Attend?

NDS recommends that Board Members and Senior Leaders within disability service organisations are most suited to attend.
