Contemporary Governance and Leadership Summit, Foundations for future success

NDS is excited to announce the preliminary program for our Contemporary Governance and Leadership Summit 2023. The summit, on the 9 October at Doltone House on Darling Island in Sydney, presents a range of speakers to empower disability leaders with the knowledge and strategies to navigate today’s leadership and governance challenges.

Headed by keynote speaker Steven Bowman, Managing Director of Conscious Governance, the list of gathered experts will deliver insights and expertise on the ever-evolving sector, while guests take the opportunity to network, collaborate and share knowledge with peers from around Australia.

The summit will be followed by the NSW Hot Topics Event.

Our keynote speaker

Steven Bowman, Managing Director, Conscious Governance

Steven is a seasoned board adviser with a great depth of experience and skill in conducting board reviews and strategic planning processes. He has held numerous senior executive, CEO and board positions with some of the United States and Australia’s most prestigious organisations, as well as authoring and co-authoring over a dozen books on governance, strategy, risk and executive leadership.

Other Speakers include:

  • The Hon. John Ryan AM will present on the recommendations from the Disability Royal Commission and what it means for disability support providers.
  • Alan Hough, PHD, Director of Purpose at Work will speak on ‘Governing for quality and safeguarding: what might disability service provider boards learn from others?’
  • Kirsty Minton, Chief Operating Officer at NDS, will lead a panel discussion on the changing landscape of insurance risk management with Gail Murray, Principal Broker at Gallagher; Sarah Nicoll, Head of Quality and Safeguarding at NDS, and Kristie Walker, Director of On Track Investigations.
  • Anthony Hamawi, Manager of CSI/NFP and Aged Care, Not for Profit, Endowments and Senior Living at Perpetual will present ‘Investing in the current environment’

NSW Disability Hot Topics Event

Following the summit, NDS will host a NSW Disability Hot Topics event to network and discuss the big issues affecting the sector.

NDS CEO Laurie Leigh will take you through key themes and issues facing the sector, how they affect providers in NSW, and what is being done to address them. Providing the NSW Government perspective will be the Minister for Families and Communities and Minister for Disability Inclusion, the Hon. Kate Washington MP.
