Forum to look at end-of-life choices and supports for people with disability
25/03/2024
A forum in Melbourne on 16 May will examine the end-of-life choices and supports for people with disability.
To increase understanding and communication between the disability and palliative care workforces, the event, Disability and Palliative Care — Strengthening our work together, will focus on bolstering communication, collaboration and coordination. It will empower both groups to improve outcomes for people living with a disability and life-limiting illness.
The day-long program will cover:
- the challenges of accessing a dignified death for people with a disability
- access to excellent palliative care when living with a life-limiting illness
- next steps, including education, advice and resources.
Opened by the Hon. Ged Kearney, MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, it will be moderated by broadcaster and writer Jacinta Parsons.
The forum is presented by NDS, Nightlife Disability Services, North West Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium and the North Western Primary Health Network.
